A new dawn waits for us tonight
If you play the cards you're holding right
I swear I'll keep in party line
Cross my heart and hope to die
If I lose myself to rhythm
Doesn't mean I lose control[/sub]

It was a beautiful day out and Xi had absolutely nothing to do. Of course, like every other teenager, she could have gone online and talked to her friends, but since she had none... that wasn't really a good plan. Any that were there before she relocated so suddenly, a very small number indeed, were too caught up in their lives to remember the oddball that had gone away. So the next choice, which was more appealing by far, was to go exploring.
Dressing herself quickly, she glanced in the mirror and smiled, clearly approving. Her hair was up in a side ponytail, as was quite typical for the girl, and her top was covered with a red tank top, from which the black straps of her bra occasionally peeked, and her lower half was covered by a pair of jean shorts, which only came about a third of the way down her thighs. Her feet were stuffed into her sneakers and they rocked back and forth as Xi went through her mental checklist. Grabbing her back and running down to the kitchen, she smiled and grabbed herself an apple, biting into it as her head bobbed to a song in her head. Turning, she snatched her iPod up from the counter and put the headphones in her ears, dancing around as she made a couple of sandwiches - just in case she met anybody that wanted to share with her - and grabbed a few bottles of water. Still bouncing around, she set all of these in her bag, with her notebooks and pens and pencils, and bounded out the door.
As she made her way to the forest, music still playing, Xi couldn't help but dance as she went, though it wasn't a particularly good dance, and mouth the words. When she finally reached the first tree, a wide grin lit upon her features and she made her way excitedly into the shade. Upon finding a decently climbable tree, she moved her bag to rest on her back and jumped up, grabbing onto the lowest branch - which was still a bit over her head - and pulled herself up, walking up the trunk until she could get her leg over the branch and swing over. Resting that way for a minute, she grinned proudly and flexed her fingers, looking around the wooded area and wondering what the chances were of finding company here. Well, there was always a chance, she figured, and set to getting up to the next branch.
This time, she had to grab one above her, which was substantially thinner than the one she was currently resting on, and swing herself over to another, larger branch. Xi managed this without much trouble and rested once more before hauling herself up to another smallish branch. There wasn't much of the tree that she could still climb, so she sprawled out across the limb, letting one hand hang down, as well as both of her legs, and pushed her bag to rest on her back. Watching below her, she once more wondered if anyone was going to come and, if so, whether that person would actually want to talk to the strange girl up in the tree. Of course, she would come down if anyone happened by, but until then she wasn't getting off of her branch; it was comfortable and much more homey than her actual house ever felt.
It was quiet and calm, even with the occasional breeze that rustled the leaves and the chirping of birds and the sound the water made as it went over stones somewhere farther off. It left Xia in a state of near-unconsciousness as she stared at the ground, unnaturally comfortable so high up.
